BCF/BASA Webinar: Shipping Chemical Mixtures

The webinar is aimed at those shipping chemical mixtures in packages from their sites. It will cover responsibilities for those packing and shipping chemical mixtures that are not classified as hazardous under CLP, those that are hazardous under CLP and those that are dangerous goods and fall into scope of the ADR regulations, either as fully regulated goods or in limited quantities, “small load exemption” or special provisions.

Caroline Raine and Kathryn Tearle of BASA and BCF will hold a joint webinar on Monday 8^th December from 14:00 – 15:00 for member companies. This webinar will explain the duties and responsibilities of the shipper/consignor of chemical mixtures and the responsibilities of the different participants within the supply chain:

• Do you receive chemicals at your site?  Do you know your responsibilities for accepting the goods?
• Is your site involved in the consigning or carriage of dangerous goods, or the related packing, loading, filling, or unloading of dangerous goods?  If so, do you know your obligations under ADR? 
• Do you send paints, inks, adhesives or sealants by courier?  Do you know your responsibilities as the shipper?
• Do you pack and label paints, inks, adhesives or sealants for shipment to your customers?  Do you know your responsibilities as the packer?
• Do you load the packages onto the carrier’s vehicle?  Do you know your responsibilities as the loader?
• Do you know the requirements imposed by your haulier?  Are your goods able to be shipped by the chosen haulier?
• What information does your haulier need about the contents of each shipment?
• Who is responsible for the dangerous goods document (DGN) and when is it required?
• Do you check the carrier’s vehicles before they leave your site?  If not, what should you be checking for?
• Are you aware of the derogations under ADR, including shipping in Limited Quantities and the “small load exemption” and special provisions?
