Employers have a legal duty to protect their workers from exposure to substances that can harm their health.

The following courses have been designed to help you understand how to recognise, assess and control the risk to health posed by exposure to harmful substances in the workplace.

Asbestos Management in Buildings

This course is an introduction to managing asbestos in non-domestic premises to the standards required by Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. The information provided is also applicable to the management of 'domestic premises', such as landlords' duties for rented accommodation.

Biological Monitoring for Chemical Exposures at Work

This course provides an introduction to biological monitoring, the practicalities associated with it and how it can be a useful and cost-effective tool for occupational hygiene and health professionals to assess and control exposure to substances in the workplace. 

Controlling Exposures to Respirable Crystalline Silica (RCS)

This one-day course will introduce delegates to the topic and explain why, and where, RCS is an issue. The course will give an overview on the design and implementation of appropriate exposure control approaches, the role of exposure monitoring in managing RCS risk and real-world insights on barriers to achieving adequate risk control and common failings.

COSHH: Practical Assessment and Control

Gain a practical understanding on how to carry out assessments as required by the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations, and learn how to put them into practice.
