Introduction to the webinar

Many BCF members submitted Downstream User Import Notifications, DUINs under UK REACH to defer the REACH registration deadline. A DUIN does not replace a full UK REACH registration; DUINs need to be converted to full registration. The Article 26 inquiry dossieris the first step to take to identify your substances and to join the relevant substance group under UK REACH.

With registration deadlines approaching, and with only a year between the registration bands, members should begin to prepare for the next steps. Substance identity is a critical element of UK REACH compliance and forms the foundation of a successful Article 26 Inquiry. 

This webinar will provide a practical overview of substance types under REACH, the analytical data required to accurately characterise substances, and the key considerations for preparing a robust inquiry submission. The webinar will also explain the Article 26 Inquiry process and share practical tips to help ensure submissions meet regulatory expectations.

About Ben

Ben holds a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Sheffield and since graduating, he has become an expert on EU and UK REACH. He began his career at the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE), where he reviewed UK REACH Article 26 Inquiries and registrations and provided advice to industry through the national helpdesk. Currently, Ben works at H2 Compliance, where he helps clients develop robust analytical reports to ensure compliance with REACH and REACH-like regimes. His expertise spans complex substance types, including UVCBs, recycled materials, and polymers, which makes him well placed for navigating challenging regulatory requirements.
